Happy Birthday Becca!!!

I am so thankful for my sister in law. There are many things I love about Becca! The way she loves my brother would be at the top of the list. You can tell that they have a lot of fun together and that she adores him and I love that! You don't find that very often nowadays (how sad!) and I know Kyle is being well cared for.

Becca is a great mom! She's raising the kids in a home where they are growing to know the Lord. I love getting to see how she loves them and disciplines them. Thanks for making me sucha big part of your lives even though I live thousands of miles away. You are a blessing in the Gorsh family and I love you sweet sister.....a few more weeks!

Make sure Kyle takes you out and spoils you!

A Wild Week of travels...

I was a traveling machine this week. I started in Northern California and then headed to Pittsburgh. This was fun because I got to spend time with Voda. For those of you who don't know her she is my oldest and best friend from Iowa. We have been friends since we were five and have kept in contact all through the years. I had to go to Pittsburgh for some recruiting and it worked out perfectly as my event was close to where she lived. It was fun getting to see her and spend time with her. I will give you some highlights of the trip.

1: Kicking it with her and catching up.

2. The weather.

3. Dowtown Pittsburgh on Friday evening. (Awesome sushi and cafe's)

4. Going to watch Phil (her man) in a tractor pull contest....(I am serious and will post on this event later).

5. Power outages.

6. Morning coffee.

7. Meeting her friends.

8. A decent turnout for college fair!

These were a few highlights and I will post more later. It's fun getting to travel but I love California and enjoy home!

*Today I am thankful that I get to live in California.

I have been so bad at keeping up the blog! I was out of town Sunday-Tuesday in Northern California. I was in charge of a fair for Christian colleges and Universities. There were 35 different schools there ready to talk to students and families about Christian higher education. I was praying that 100 people would show up as it was the first fair that I was in charge of and 250 ended up showing up! PTL!It was a good event and I am glad it's over!

I was back in the office today and leave tommorow morning for Pittsburgh. I have a recruiting event but get to see Voda so I am really excited. Tonight I went and met Kelli and the girls for dinner. They are a blessing to me. Ivy is getting so big and Sissy is a little lover.

I have been seeking the Lord a lot lately and learning what it means to wait on Him. I'm sure I'll be talking more about that soon...packing is waiting so I must go!

*Today I am thankful for the way Sissy smiles at me! love it!

Would You Rather Wednesday?!?!

Would you rather be able to communicate with the dead, but have to converse solely in jive or have a save game function for your life?

*Today I am thankful for trials that develop me.

Would You Rather Wednesday!?!?

Would you rather be the guy in a factory who pulls the same lever 8 hours a day or a personal assistant to P Diddy? (things to consider: if you HAVEN'T watched "I Want to Work for Diddy" it's NOT as glamourous as you may intitally think, after 8 hours on the line you are done... no stress, with Diddy you are on call 24 hours a day but you get to travel all over the world) Death is not an option.

*Today I am thankful for my dear sweet friend Patty....without a dobt a blessing from the Lord!

Tame that tongue!

James 3:1-5 "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness. 2 For we all stumble in many ways. And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. 3 If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. 4 Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. 5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things."

I've been thinking a lot about the power of words. What you say, how you say it, and the impact the tongue has on others. Ephesians 4:29 says "Let no corupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." The things we should be saying and talking about as believers should be instructive, uplifting, and encouraging. Even if you are correcting someone it should be in love and not anger. Our words and actions should be immersed in grace since we have been saved by grace! I have prayed that my words would be encouraging, uplifiting, instructive, and would be full of grace to everyone I come in contact with. The Lord has convicted me in this area and it saddens me to hear all the different conversations among believers that aren't encouraging, uplifting and full of grace.

The above text shows that James presents the matter of the tongue as another test of living faith because true faith will be demonstrated by speech. Your tongue is very telling to where your heart is. The tongue is so important that James mentions it in every chapter.

It's said that women speak between 40-50,000 words a day (men speak about 25,000....HA!) I just hope that my words will be sweet and uplifiting to the hearer and if I start to say something I shouldn't that the Lord will shut me up! This has been on my mind a lot lately and wanted to share it....something to think about. Maybe we should all pray this a little more often...Psalm 141:3 "Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips"

*Today I am thankful for Luke (in my office). Today I appreciated his humility and love!

Happy Birthday Jen!!!

Happy birthday to a great friend! There are many things I love about Jen. She has totally embraced me into her family and I love and adore the Sharpe's. Jen is one of those people who I can go to with anything and she won't sugar coat things just to make me feel good. She tells me the way it is and I know she loves me and will always be honest with me. I NEED that in my life!

Jen and I have A LOT of fun when we are together and laugh a lot. I lived with her and "the fam" last year for about 5 weeks before I was able to move into my new place. I had such a good time and enjoyed mornings with the family. (Kuddos to Scottie for putting up with me during this time :))

Jen, I truly love and appreicate you. Thanks for being a good friend to me and taking care of me! :) LOVE YOU SIS!!!

A Good Read...

This post is more for all my girls out there. (although for all the guys that read this it's a great book for your wife or a good book for the type of wife you should be praying for). I just finished it and found it to be very capitvating. (ignore the cover of the book...if you know me it's way too formal for my style...i DONT have tea parties!)

The whole book is centered around Titus 2:3-5 "Older woman likewise are to be reverant in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be dishonored."

I have a handful of girls that ask me to mentor them every year at the college. I tend to feel so UN-Qualified but I know I need to invest in these girls. This book has given me direction and is very practicial. I love my time with the college girls and consider it a huge responsibilty to teach and train them in Godliness. It has been a huge blessing and I love it. All my girl friends out there...read this book!

*Tonight I am thankful for the interns in my office. So insightful, funny, amusing, and they make me smile!

A New Year...

I can't believe I just began my fourth year as Director of Admissions at the college. I am so excited about this year and feel a great responsibility in leading the office. We have such a great group of students working in our office and I look forward to getting to know them better.

The pictures are of our first day together as an office. We always do a big staff picture for our office. We're missing three people but it's hard to make 20 plus schedules fit. There are so many different personalities and it was fun being all together on Tuesday night.

My hope is that I can love and serve them this year and we can all grow to be more like Christ.

*Today I am thankful for Megan. She's my right hand at work and has been such an encouragment to me this week! GO MEGS!

Happy Birthday Summer...

Happy Birthday Sweet Sister! You are without a dobut a gift from the Lord in my life. Looking back on this last year it's fun to see how the Lord has worked in our lives at the same times, teaching us the same lessons and how we have been able to share one another's burdens. Summer, the thing I love about you is that you always point me to the Word. You are so thoughtful and encouraging of me.

I thank the Lord for your friendship. I know without a doubt you are a blessing from the Lord in my life. Thanks for sharing the good and bad with me this year. I love you.

*Today I am thankful for the students back at school!

*Today I am thankful that the Lord continues to refine me as painful as it can be!

Happy Birthday Heidi...

I have been blessed beyond words when it comes to the friend department. I got to know Heidi four years ago when I started working at the college. Heidi was a life saver for me my first year as Director. I didn't realize how time consuming the marketing and advertising aspect of my job was and Heidi walked through it all with me. We have continued working very closely as she does all the design of the marketing for the school. Through the years she has become such a good, faithful and loyal friend.

I cherish her and love her whole family. Heidi is a faithful friend who is kind and thoughtful towards me. I'm so thankful for her on many levels. I love you Heidi and hope you have a great day today. I look forward to celebrating with you in the next week!

*Today I'm thankful for the Keller clan!
